Women's Golf Finishes in 4th at Home Tournament

Junior Rachel Mulkey was the Huskies' top finisher at the HBU Huskies Invitational Tuesday.

, Texas – The HBU women's golf team kept fourth place after the final round Tuesday of the HBU Huskies Women's Golf Invitational at 6,084-yd, par-72 Riverbend Country Club.
 
Junior Rachel Mulkey shot a 79 in the third round, tying for 11th place to lead the Huskies with 231.  Senior Christina Cantu carded an 80 and finished with a tie in 15th place, just three strokes behind Mulkey. Sophomore Brook Johnston shot her best round in the third with 77, and tied for 17th place one stroke behind Cantu with 235.  Junior Caitlyn Cassity shot a 77, tying for 25th with 238.  Senior Katie Paxton had a team best of the day, firing a 2-over par-74, tying for 35th with 253 to end the tournament.  Freshman Charlotte Hartshorn and Senior Jenny Kang competed individually.  Hartshorn carded an 88, to finish with 248, while Kang totaled 261 after today's score of 87.
 
Lamar maintained first place after firing a 296 in the third round, finishing the tournament with 915.  Central Arkansas and Louisiana-Monroe fell to second place with 922.  Houston Baptist shot a 307, ending with 932.  Stephen F. Austin also carded a 307, finishing 13 strokes behind HBU with 945.
 
Individual competitor for Houston, Raegan Bremer, fired a 70 in the third, climbing to first place with 221.  Lamar's Taylor Stockton shot an even par-72, finishing in second place with 224.  Central Arkansas's Kendra Mann and Lousiana-Monroe's Kathy Sterling tied for third with 226.  Oklahoma City's Elia Folch shot a 1-over par-73, and ended in fifth place with 228.
 
The Huskies will compete in the team's first-ever Southland Conference Championship tournament on April 15-17 at High Meadow Ranch Golf Club in Magnolia, Texas.
