HOUSTON
-- Hiba Kreidie helped HBU's women's distance medley relay to a third-place finish Friday night and Saturday was the fourth collegiate finisher (sixth overall) in the 3000 meters, while Reagan Jones zipped to a lifetime best to finish fifth among collegiate runners in the 200 at the UH Howie Ryan Invitational at Yeoman Fieldhouse.

Kreidie ran the opening 1200 meter leg on the DMR, and was followed by Roneisha Webb (400), Bria Guerin (800) and Jessica Whitt (1600) as the Huskies crossed the line at 12:22.85. Kreidie ran a season-best 10:23.83 in the 3000 and was four places ahead of teammate Gabriela Busquet, who clocked 10:43.21.

Jones, running in the Friday sections of the 200, stormed to a 25.36 on the tight bends of the Houston oval to easily win her heat in her best performance since last year's Great West Conference indoor championship meet.

Freshman Kierstin Santana also turned in a 2014 best in the 800 on Saturday at 2:17.27 to place eighth, while  Whitt chopped more than four seconds off her season best in the mile with a 5:04.02 that put her 11th overall.

A pair of season bests went to the 4x400 relay squads, with the women's quartet of Sharonda Bryant, Roneisha Webb, Jazmine Warden and Ashley Johnson running 3:57.46 for eighth overall. The Huskies were 11th in the men's race at 3:24.35 with a team of Brice Christian, David Hicks, D'Anthony Graham and Jarell McFarland.

In Friday's women's long jump section, freshman Taylor Thomas was third with a leap of 5.41 meters/17-9. Shawn O'Brien was sixth in the heptathlon with a personal-best 3,930 points, and teammate Garrison Fick took seventh at 3,872 in his event debut as the two recorded the second and third highest scores in school history.

HBU returns to the track in two weeks at the UH Tune-Up, the final meet for the Huskies before the Southland Conference indoor championships in Birmingham, Ala., on Feb. 26-27.
