HCU has five student-athletes competing for a shot to advance to the NCAA Outdoor Championships

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas – HCU track & field has five student-athletes traveling to E.B. Cushing Stadium on the campus of Texas A&M University to compete in the NCAA West Prelims from Wednesday through Saturday.

First up for the Huskies on Wednesday, May 28, will be Denzel Hinds and Edouard Lecrivain. Lecrivain had a banner year, setting new Southland Conference record in both the 800 meters and the 1500 meters. His 800m time of 1:47.03 at the Bryan Clay Invitational ranked 15th in the NCAA West Region and 31st in the NCAA. The 800m starts at 7:50 p.m. with the senior running in the first heat and the top three finishers in each heat advancing to Friday's quarterfinals along with the next six fastest times.

Immediately following the 800m at 8:20 p.m. is the 400-meter hurdles with Hinds running in heat 6. The senior qualified for the West Prelims for the second-consecutive year, advancing after running a school record time of 50.75 at the SLC outdoor championships. That mark ranks 28th in the region and 56th nationally.

Thursday, May 29, will see junior Eline Mast take to the track in the women's 1500m at 6:30 p.m. Mast placed second at the SLC Championships in the 1500m with a time of 4:28.93 while she ran her best time at the Bryan Clay Invitational in April, finishing in 4:20.31. She will be running in the first heat.

The duo of Dadrian Calhoun and Josh Gillis-Harry will both take part in the triple jump on Friday, May 30, with Gillis-Harry jumping in flight 2 while Calhoun will be in flight 4. Calhoun heads into the prelims ranked 12th in the region and tied for 23rd in the nation with a top mark of 15.88m/52-1.25 at the Texas A&M 44 Farms Team Invitational in April. Gillis-Harry, meanwhile, boasts a top mark of 15.45m/50-8.25 for the season at the 44 Farms Team Invitational to rank tied for 35th in the region and 64th nationally. The top 12 marks in the triple jump will advance to the outdoor championships in Oregon.
