FRISCO, Texas – HCU track & field placed five men and five women on the 2026 Southland Conference All-Academic Team.
Raphael Aureau and
SJ Marais, coming off first team all-conference performances via gold medal finishes at the SLC Championships, both were included on the list for the Huskies. Aureau won gold at the SLC Indoor Championships as part of the HCU Distance Medley Relay team and then reached the top spot at the podium with a win in the 800m at the SLC Outdoor Championships. Marais, meanwhile, won gold in the 110 meter hurdles at the SLC Outdoors and qualified for the NCAA West Prelims where he placed 26
th in the first round. Joining them were
Ashton Munoz-Nieves, who earned bronze at the SLC Indoors in the 60 meter hurdles,
Colby Kurtz and
Kade Stevens.
For the women,
Reyes Carrera,
Brianna Hinds and
Samantha Rabius were each honored while carrying 4.0 grade point averages.
Storm Evans earned a spot following a season in which she set a new program record in the discus with a throw of 49.76m/163-03.
Chimaoge Nwokedi was also named to the team after placing sixth in the high jump at the SLC Outdoors and seventh in the event at the SLC Indoors.
