T&F: Lecrivain Earns Double Student-Athlete of the Year Honors

The HCU senior leads a group of five Huskies to earn SLC academic recognition

FRISCO, Texas – HCU track & field placed five student-athletes on the 2025 Southland Conference Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field All-Academic teams on Wednesday afternoon with senior Edouard Lecrivain named Indoor and Outdoor Student-Athlete of the Year.

Lecrivain becomes the first-ever male HCU student-athlete to earn the SLC's top academic honor, joining Kaitlin Smith and Jessica Rabius as the school's two other SAOTY winners. The HCU senior had a banner year for the Huskies, first breaking a pair of SLC records during the indoor season. Lecrivain ran HCU's first-ever sub-4:00 mile and set a new league record with a time of 3:59.02 and also broke a 28-year-old record in the 800 meters, posting a time of 1:47.99. He also won gold in both events at the SLC Indoor Championships. During the outdoor season, Lecrivain broke an SLC record in the 800m that stood for 42 years, racing to a time of 1:47.22. That time was good enough to earn a spot in the NCAA West First Round where he reached the NCAA quarterfinals. He also ran the second-fastest time in SLC history in the 1500 meters.

Senior Denzel Hinds earns his second academic all-SLC selection after placing third at the SLC outdoor championships in the 400-meter hurdles with a program record time of 50.75. That time was enough to send him to his second-straight NCAA West First Round.

Sophomore Josh Gillis-Harry makes his first all-academic team after ranking in the top-five in the SLC in the triple jump during both the indoor and outdoor seasons. He reached his first NCAA West First Round this season, placing 24th in the West Region with a top jump of 15.59m/51-1.75. He earned silver in the triple jump at the SLC outdoor championships. Leandre Lahalle also earned his first selection after ranking sixth in the SLC in the steeplechase with a top time of 9:18.41.

Eline Mast represents the HCU women on the all-academic team. The junior set a new conference record in the mile during the indoor season, posting a time of 4:40.41. She also went on to win gold in the mile at the indoor championships. During the outdoor season, Mast won silver at the SLC outdoor championships in the 1500m and qualified for the NCAA West First Round in the event. She also set a new PR time of 2:07.85 in the 800m for the second-fastest time in the SLC this season.
