Nacogdoches, TX – After day two of the 2026 Southland Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships, HCU saw multiple athletes shine, with multiple qualifiers and a podium finish.
Staying red hot this season, SJ Marais qualified for the finals in the men's 100m hurdles, clocking a time of 13.83, which holds the top spot heading into the finals. This time is also a new PR and school record.
Ashton Munoz-Nieves joined his teammate by also qualifying for the finals in the same event, holding the third best seed heading into the finals with a time of 14.00.
Senior Raphael Aureau qualified for the finals in the men's 800m with a time of 1:50.20. He enters the finals with the top spot.
Layloni Watson took home a third overall finish in the women's triple jump, with a mark of 12.45m/40-10.25.
The third and final day of the Southland Conference Outdoor Championships is on May 16 and starts at 11 AM.
