Nacogdoches, TX – The 2026 Southland Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships started on May 14, and day one saw a finals qualifier and a few top ten finishers.
Freshman Rayhan Mourtada advanced to the finals in the men's 400m hurdles, winning his heat and heading into the finals with the fifth best seed time of 52.23.
Albin Wallenius took home a tenth-place finish in the men's 1500m with a time of 3:59.57.
Colby Kurtz also added on a tenth overall finish in the men's 10,000m, crossing the line at 32:12.96.
Layloni Watson got her meet started with a ninth-place finish in the women's long jump, earning a mark of 5.70m/18-8.50.
Day two of the conference championships will kick off on May 15 at 9:30 AM and will be streamed on ESPN+.
