Final Results (PDF)GULF SHORES, Ala. — The HBU women's golf team won their second-straight tournament this month after finishing in first place, following the final round Tuesday of the UAB Fall Beach Bash at the par-72 Peninsula Golf & Racquet Club.
Sophomore
Charlotte Hartshorn fired a 3-under par-69 to finish the tournament in second place with an even-par 144. Out of the 58 players in the tournament, Hartshorn tallied the second-most holes of par with 28 and she birdied four times. Junior
Aries Ramirez shot a 1-over par-73, tying for ninth place at 147. Ramirez had the second-most birdies with a total of seven. Senior
Caitlyn Cassity also finished tied for ninth after a final round of 74 to total 147. Cassity birdied five times. Senior
Rachel Mulkey carded a second-straight round of 74 to tie for 14
th place, only one stroke behind Cassity and Ramirez. Junior
Brook Johnston tied for 30
th after a final round of 76 totaling 153. Johnston also birdied five times. Freshman
Susan Hagger played individually and climbed 12 places, placing 16
th after a final round of even-par 72.
HBU climbed to first place with 586 after a final round of two-over-par 290. Sam Houston State finished in second, five strokes behind HBU. West Florida fell two places to finish in place at 592. Western Kentucky shot 593 over the two rounds to place fourth. Louisiana-Monroe finalized the tournament in fifth place at 598.
West Florida's Paloma Vaccaro finished in first place with 1-under par-143. HBU's Hartshorn finished one stroke behind Vaccaro to place second. Sam Houston State's Alisa White shot 145 over two rounds and placed third. Five other players tied for fourth place with 146.
The Huskies will return to competition February 15-16, 2015 at Landa Park Golf Club in New Braunfels, Texas.
