Women’s Soccer Continues Homestand Friday Against SFA

Huskies host SFA Friday at 7 pm; battle McNeese State Sunday at 1 pm

HOUSTON – It will be a battle of unbeatens Friday night as HBU hosts Stephen F. Austin under the lights at Sorrels Field. Kick-off is set for a 7 pm start. The Huskies continue their homestand Sunday at 1 pm versus McNeese State.

SFA leads the all-time series versus HBU, 4-0-0, and won last season's meeting in Nacogdoches, 2-0. The series against McNeese State is tied at 2-2-2, as HBU shut out the Cowgirls last season in Lake Charles, 3-0. Three different Huskies scored against McNeese State, including Alessia Dal Monte, who earned her first-collegiate tally.

HBU (2-5-3 overall, 1-0-2 SLC) remained unbeaten in conference play with a pair of 1-1 double overtime ties over the weekend, at Northwestern State and versus Lamar. Kristi O'Brien scored both goals.
 
O'Brien leads the team with four goals and eight points, followed by Natalie Hager with two tallies and four points. Rebekah Tovar has a team-best two assists as she is tied with Hager with four points.
 
Patty Walrath has seen the majority of the action in goal and has a 2-4-2 record. Her 1.16 goals-against average is third-best in the conference, while her .800 save percentage is ranked sixth. She is tied-for-fifth with two shutouts, as she has made 40 saves in 778 minutes.

SFA (6-2-1 overall, 2-0-0 SLC) remained perfect in the conference with a 2-1 overtime win against Lamar. Chelsea Raymond scored the game winner a minute into the extra session.
 
Zuri Prince leads the team with five assists and 13 points. Raymond and Hanna Barker each have five goals and 10 points.
 
Two-time SLC Goalkeeper of the Week, Morgan Glick, is 4-2-1, as she has made 34 saves in 651 minutes. She is second in the conference in both GAA (0.832) and save percentage (.850) and tied-for-second with four shutouts.

McNeese State (3-6-1 overall, 1-2-0 SLC) was doubled up by Sam Houston State in Huntsville Sunday, 4-2. The Cowgirls host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Friday night before playing HBU.
 
Savannah LaRicci leads the team with four goals and nine points, while both Sierra Sisco and Krista Steinbeiser have two goals and four points.
 
Maggie Marks is 3-5-1 in goal with 28 saves in 784 minutes. Her 1.49 GAA is seventh-best in the conference, while her .683 save percentage is 10th-best. She has three shutouts, which rank her fourth.

After the two home games this weekend, HBU concludes its four-match homestand next Sunday, Oct. 12, when the Huskies host Incarnate Word at 1 pm at Sorrels Field.
