Christina Cantu made a solid debut for the Huskies firing three straight rounds in the 70s to finish 12
th and lead HBU to an eighth-place showing at the Chip-N Club Invitational held at the Lincoln Country Club.
Cantu shot a 77 to go along with her 71 and 79 from Monday to finish with a total of 227. Junior
Rachel Mulkey fired an even par of 72 in the third round, along with her 84 and 81 from Monday to finish with a total of 237 and a hold on 31
st place. Mulkey carded four birdies and played a bogie-free back nine, which included one birdie. Freshman
Charlotte Hartshorn finished 48
th and with a total of 245. Hartshorn scored a 76 in the third round, along with her 81 and 88 from the previous rounds on Monday. Junior
Katy Kile tied for 49
th and finished with an overall score of 247 after carding an 84 during the third round, along with her 84 and 79 from Monday. Senior
Katie Paxton finished 60
th after shooting 84 in the third round, along with her 86 and 80 from Monday, giving her a total of 250.
The Huskies improved 10 strokes from the second round, shooting 309 and finishing with a 54-hole total of 948 as a team.
Nebraska's Cassie Deeg placed first individually with a total score of 213, just four strokes ahead of her fellow teammate, Steffi Neisen, Central Arkansas's Malin Senneryd placed third with a score of 218, just one stroke ahead of her teammate, Sarah Brown.
University of Nebraska takes first place of the tournament with a total score of 874, just 18 strokes ahead of Central Arkansas. Wichita State finished third with an overall score of 901, only nine strokes ahead of Iowa. Missouri State takes ahold of fifth place with a total score of 922.
The Huskies return to action Sept. 23 at the ULM Fred Marx Invitational in Monroe, La.
