Jarrett Gilliam added almost five feet to his own HBU record in the men's hammer throw, and the Huskies won eight events Saturday at the Sam Houston State Quadrangular at Bowers Stadium. Gilliam's first effort flew 55.05 meters/180-7 and earned him third place as he recorded the second best throw in the Great West Conference this season.
Jake Adkins was a double winner, taking golds in the shot put and discus, the latter with a season-best 49.85/163-6, and
Erin Buck won the women's shot put at 12.17/39-11.25. Gilliam was second to Adkins in both events.
On the track,
Jessica Whitt dominated the women's 800 with a 2:14.54, while
Carolyn McClanahan raced to victory in the 3000 steeplechase.

Lakesha Cameron were the top two collegians in the 100 at 11.74 and 11.75, and
Amber Goodson tied for the win in the 100 hurdles with a 2013 best of 14.04.
Anthony Aguinaga was the other HBU winner, clocking 1:55.57 to take the 800 by more than five seconds.
Hiba Kreidie was second in the women's 1500 at 4:43.72, and the Huskies' women's 4x100 and 4x400 relay squads each placed second. Freshman
Desiree Scott sailed to a wind-aided 5.70/18-8.5 to take second in the women's long jump.
HBU travels to Austin April 13 for the Texas Invitational.
