HOUSTON – Houston Baptist shut out visiting Prairie View A&M, 6-0, in game one, then run-ruled the Lady Panthers in game two, 14-4 in five innings, Tuesday afternoon at Husky Field.

Melissa Herman had a game-high five RBI in the two games for HBU (15-22). Leann Flores went 3-for-5 for PVAMU (18-18).

There was no scoring in game one until the Huskies scored twice in the bottom of the third on a two-run double by Herman.

HBU broke the game open with a four-run sixth. Daniella Rodarte's triple brought home Shay Orsak, then an RBI double by Mac Christensen allowed Rodarte to score. Two straight walks loaded the bases with just one out. Rebecca Rademacher singled on a sac bunt, which scored Christensen. Kirsten Schwirtlich then grounded out, which scored Callie Herrington for the Huskies' fourth run of the inning, giving HBU a 6-0 lead.

The Lady Panthers went down in order in the top of the seventh to end the game.

Seven different Huskies had a hit, while Herman had two RBI. Sarah Shotton (5-7) earned the complete win victory in the circle, allowing just two hits and one walk while striking out seven.

Flores and Alisa Navarro each had a hit for PVAMU. Cally Falls (9-10) took the loss in the circle, allowing seven hits, six runs (four earned), and five walks while striking out four.

Game two was an offensive explosion for the Huskies. HBU took a 2-0 lead after one inning on an RBI double by Lauren Powers and a sac fly by Herman.

PVAMU put a four-spot in the top of the second to lead the Huskies, 4-2, but HBU answered back with six runs in the bottom half of the inning to lead 8-4. K. Schwirtlich and Kate Maddock each had an RBI, while V. Granchelli and Rodarte each had two RBI in the inning.

HBU scored six more runs the next inning to lead the Lady Panthers, 14-4. Callie Herrington had an RBI, while Lauren Schwirtlich and Herman each had two RBI. There was one Lady Panther error in the inning, which resulted in two unearned runs.

PVAMU threatened in the top of the fifth, with bases loaded and just one out, but HBU got a strikeout and a fielder's choice to end the game.

L. Schwirtlich, Powers, V. Granchelli, and Christensen each had two-hit games. Herman had a game-high three RBI, while L. Schwirtlich, V. Granchelli, and Rodarte each had two.

Lori Earl started in the circle and gave up five hits, four runs, and one walk while striking out one in 1.0+. Kendall Stiefel (5-5) relieved Earl and earned the win, allowing five hits and one walk while striking out five in 4.0 innings.

Flores and Peyton Simms each went 2-for-2 for the Lady Panthers, while four different players had an RBI.

Sarina Rios (3-2) started and took the loss, allowing seven hits, seven runs, and one walk in 1.1 inning. Lauren Grun relieved Rios and allowed six hits, seven runs (five earned), and two walks while striking out one in 2.2 innings.

HBU will play its final three home games of the season when the Huskies host Stephen F. Austin Saturday and Sunday. Saturday's doubleheader begins at 1 pm, while Sunday's single game begins at 2 pm. Senior Day festivities will immediately follow Sunday's game.
