Matt Perri broke his own 3000-meter steeplechase record and won his section of the event Thursday at the 86th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays. Perri clocked 9:00.93 in section one to win by more than two seconds, and finished seventh overall. He set the previous HBU record of 9:11.46 last year.
The Huskies also set a season best in the women's 4x400 relay, where a quartet of
Sharonda Bryant,
Roneisha Webb,
Kenisa Haynes and
Morgan Pressley ran 3:51.82.
Brittane Gaines had a 2013 best of 11.88 in the heats of the 100, the fastest dash in the Great West Conference this season, and
Amber Goodson continued her return to top form with a 14.26 in the 100 hurdles.
At the Texas State Bobcat Invitational in San Marcos,
Jarrett Gilliam notched a '13 best with his 48.66/159-8 in the discus, and
Jake Adkins set a yearly best in the shot put with his toss of 15.41/50-6.75.
Desiree Scott won the 100H in 14.58, a personal best, and
Saheed Okunnu triple jumped 14.05/46-1.5 to take fifth.
HBU travels to Huntsville April 6 for the Sam Houston State Quadrangular.
