HOUSTON – Houston Baptist was shut out at the hands of Big 12-member Baylor, 5-0, in very wet and sloppy conditions at Sorrels Field Sunday evening.

Baylor wasted little time getting the lead, as Dana Larsen scored her team-leading fifth and sixth goals in the 5th and 13th minutes. The second goal hit the bottom of the cross bar and bounced inside the net.

Then the rain picked up. It was a light rain at the start of the match, but around the 20th minute was when it was a downpour. The Bears scored their third goal of the match before halftime, as Michelle Hagen scored in the 35th minute, assisted by Vic Hoffman.

Baylor outshot HBU 12-3 in shots and 5-1 in shots on goal.

Baylor increased its lead with two goals in a three-minute span midway through the second half. Lisa Silwinski scored in the 62nd minute, unassisted, as there was a race to the ball and she got to the ball first and went around HBU goalkeeper Shelby Horn, scoring into an open net. Justin Hovden scored the Bears' final goal in the 65th minute, unassisted, as she shot in the penalty kick area of the box.

The match ended with 20 minutes remaining in regulation, due to the rain and poor field conditions.

HBU had five shots, three on target. Molly Missimer led the Huskies with two shots on goal. Horn took the loss, allowing five goals and making one save.

Larsen had a four-point match for Baylor (8-1-1), while Silwinski had a three-point match with a goal and an assist. Michelle Kloss started the match and earned the win, making two saves in 61:36. Meredith Stark relieved Kloss and made one save in 9:32.

HBU (3-5-2) will hit the road next weekend to play at Southeastern Louisiana on Fri., Sept. 21 at 4:30 pm, then play at McNeese State on Sun., Sept. 23 at 1 pm.
