LaDarien Harris and
Darryl McCullum lopped more than two seconds off the existing Houston Baptist men's 4x400 record Saturday at the Texas State Bobcat Classic. The quartet, made up of three freshmen and a junior, clocked 3:15.55 to finish fourth.
One other school record fell, as
Cassie Juarez added one centimeter to her own javelin standard, throwing 34.04 meters/111-8.
Brittane Gaines continued her series of fine runs in the 100 with a third-place finish overall in 11.89, and
Carolyn McClanahan debuted in the 3000 steeplechase with a solid 12:00.22 to take fourth and just miss the school record. Other top six finishes went to
Anthony Aguinaga in the 1500 (4th at 3:59.18) and
Tramisha McGrew in the 400 (5th at 57.33), while Harris and
Brandon Boyd finished 5-6 in the 200.
Gaines and McGrew teamed up with
Joslyn Cooper and
Skyla Williams to place third in the 4x100, and McGrew's 55.2 third leg on the 4x400 helped that foursome to a bronze.
HBU hosts the
Great West Conference Championships at Humble's Turner Stadium on May 10-12.
