HOUSTON -- Tramisha McGrew sprinted to an HBU record in the women's 400-meters and helped the Huskies to a pair of relay medals Saturday as the Huskies took down six school records on a sun-soaked day at the J. Fred Duckett Rice Twilight Meet.

McGrew, a senior from Spring, clocked 56.02 to finish third overall in the 400, and she ran a superb third leg on the 4x100 to help teammates Brittane Gaines, Joslyn Cooper and Skyla Williams to a silver in a season-best 45.81. She also anchored the 4x400 to a third-place finish in 3:49.22 despite a fumbled final exchange.

For the second time in three days, Matt Perri broke one of his own school standards, this time in the 1500. After smashing his 3000 steeplechase record in California Thursday evening, Perri flew back to Houston and cruised to a 3:50.67 to take fourth and trim .16 off his previous record in the metric mile.

Senior Candace Montgomery was one of two record-setters in the 400 hurdles, placing fifth with her 62.02 as she clipped 1.34 seconds off the mark she set earlier this season. Gabe O'Neale dropped his old HBU record in the men's long hurdles by .36 to 55.68.

In the field events, Jake Adkins added more than four feet to his existing school record in the hammer with a toss of 51.17 meters/167-10 to take seventh. He also finished fourth in the discus and seventh in the shot put.
Hiba Kreidie

In the final race of the meet, Hiba Kreidie surprised with an 18:04.53 in the women's 5000 to crush the old record by more than 36 seconds and place fourth. The previous record-holder, Angela Rojas, was also well under the old mark with her 18:15.48 lifetime best in eighth.

Gaines earned bronze in the 100 with an 11.85, and set a personal best in the 200 of 24.91 to end up fifth. In the women's 1500, Jessica Whitt knocked a huge chunk off her PR with a 4:35.81 in seventh, the fastest time for the Huskies in 2012. Another lifetime best went to Anthony Aguinaga in the 5000, where he clocked 14:57.54.

Cassie Juarez uncorked a lifetime-best 5.53/18-1.75 for eighth in the long jump and also was sixth in the javelin. The shot and hammer saw a pair of fourth-place efforts by Jade Penick, who set a season best in the shot with her 12.63/41-5.25 throw.

HBU will close out the regular season Friday and Saturday at the Texas State Invitational in San Marcos, before hosting the Great West Conference Outdoor Championships at Humble's Turner Stadium on May 10-12.
