AUSTIN --
Matt Perri sliced more than three seconds off the Houston Baptist University men's 1500-meters record Thursday, clocking 3:50.83 to finish third at the 85th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays.
Perri, who won the Great West Conference cross country title last fall, demolished the old record of 3:54.00, set last week by
Anthony Aguinaga. En route to his bronze effort, Perri beat athletes from Stanford, Texas A&M and Kentucky. Patrick Kimeli, a Kenyan from Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, won the race in 3:49.03.
HBU's women take center stage Friday morning with entries in the 4x100, 4x400 and 100-meter dash, starting at 9:30.
