FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. --
Brittane Gaines shattered the HBU women's indoor 60-meters record with a 7.49 in her prelim heat Friday at the Tyson Invitational at the University of Arkansas to headline a day that saw school indoor records tumble in three events.
Gaines, who chopped .05 off the previous record set in 2010 by Cindee Wright, went on to place 15th overall in a very deep and strong field that featured many of the nation's top collegiate sprinters.
A pair of 400-meters records fell to senior
Tramisha McGrew and freshman
Brice Christian. McGrew clocked 57.19 to take almost a half-second off the previous best by
Morgan Pressley, while Christian trimmed .83 off the old standard with his 50.16.
Great West Conference cross country champion
Matt Perri was a convincing winner in his section of the mile, rolling to a 4:14.23 to place 15th overall.
Competition continues Saturday, starting at 10:45 am with the men's 3000.
