FRISCO, Texas – HCU freshman Mikaela Valentine was named Southland Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday morning following HCU's 2-0 conference win over Stephen F. Austin last Thursday.

Valentine played a huge role in the Huskies moving their current unbeaten streak to seven games last Thursday in a dominant 2-0 win over SFA. The defender played all 90 minutes of the shutout with the HCU defense limiting the visitors to just two shots on goal amongst four total shot attempts. On top of that, Valentine was credited with an assist on both HCU goals for her first two assists of the season.
