WGOLF: Huskies Close Fourth at Lady Clerico

Stewart paces HCU with eighth-place finish at Hillcrest

BARTLESVILLE, Oklahoma - Houston Christian wrapped up the Wildcat Invitational with a fourth-place team finish at +16 after three rounds at Hillcrest Country Club in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. The Huskies posted rounds of 292, 296, and 292 across the three days, showing consistency on a demanding course that played to 6,247 yards.

Sophomore Alyssa Stewart led the way for HCU with an eighth-place finish at even par. Stewart opened with a strong 3-under 69, followed by a 75 on Day 2, and closed with a composed 2-under 70. Her third round included steady play on the front nine at 37 strokes and a sharp finish on the back nine with a 33, highlighted by birdies at holes 12 and 15. Stewart's top-10 finish anchored the Huskies' lineup.

Classmate Natcha Makmanee continued her steady run with a tie for 12th at +2. She started with a 73, caught fire in the second round with a 2-under 70, and finished with a 75 in the final round. Makmanee's third round featured a smooth front-nine 35, including a birdie at the par-3 4th, before running into trouble on the back nine where a double bogey at the 10th slowed her momentum. Still, she secured another strong finish inside the top 15.

Freshman Sara Pihlajamäki impressed with consistency, recording rounds of 74, 75, and 74 to place 21st at +7. Her final round was balanced with matching 37s on both sides. Pihlajamäki's poise on the par-3s stood out, where she played them in even par across the tournament, demonstrating a maturity beyond her years in just her first fall season.

Another freshman, Serena Churchill, tied for 29th at +9 after rounds of 76, 76, and 73. Churchill's final-round 73 was her best of the week, including a composed even-par front nine of 36. She managed to limit mistakes and kept herself in rhythm with pars across the closing stretch, helping the Huskies maintain their position on the leaderboard.

Rounding out the lineup, sophomore Hailey Hendershott showed improvement each day, finishing 50th with rounds of 81, 79, and 76. Her third-round 76 marked her best score of the event, highlighted by a steady back nine of 37 with a birdie on the par-3 16th. Hendershott's progress across the week added depth to the team's effort.

Houston Christian now turns its attention to the Red Raider Invitational, hosted by Texas Tech on Sept. 23-24 in Lubbock, Texas, as the Huskies continue their fall slate.
