HOUSTON – Senior runner
Edouard Lecrivain led a number of HCU medalists on the final day of the 2025 Southland Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday at Rice's Ley Track.
Lecrivain put a stamp on his brilliant with a gold medal finish in the men's 1500 meters. The senior ran much of the race in fourth and used a strong kick over the final 200 meters to pull ahead and win with a time of 3:52.14. In the women's 1500m,
Eline Mast took second with a time of 4:28.93, finishing less than a tenth of a second out of first.
Ashton Munoz-Nieves earned a spot on the podium in the men's 110-meter hurdles, edging out fourth-place Alyas Williams of UIW by two hundredths of a second with a time of 14.175.
SJ Marais also earned points in the 110h final, crossing the finish line in 14.28 to place fifth.
Denzel Hinds, meanwhile, ran a blistering 50.75 to come in third in the men's 400-meter hurdles and set a new program record by more than half a second.
Arlette Concepcion and
Colby Kurtz each placed seventh in their respective 5,000 meter races with Concepcion posting a time of 17:22.34 and Kurtz clocking in at 14:53.50.
In field events,
Josh Gillis-Harry leapt to a top distance of 15.42m/50-7.25 to earn a silver in the triple jump.
Kennedy Doakes cleared 1.67m/5-5.75 to place fifth while
Chimaoge Nwokedi matched that height en route to an eighth-place finish. In the men's high jump,
Kade Stevens came in eighth with a height of 2:00m/6-6.75.
