T&F: Two Records Fall as Huskies Split Squads on Busy Weekend

Edouard Levicrain sets another program record while Macie Hunter breaks an 11-year old school best



LUBBOCK, Texas – A pair of program records fell this weekend as the HCU track & field programs were split between the Stan Scott Invite at Texas Tech and the University of Houston Robert Platt Invitational at the Yeoman Fieldhouse.
 
On Friday in Houston, senior Macie Hunter shattered the program record in the women's 5,000 meters by nearly nine seconds, placing third with a time of 18:07.49 to break Gabriela Busquet's previous program best from 2014. Then, in Lubbock on Saturday and for the second time in as many weeks, Edouard Lecrivain stamped his name in the HCU record book with a time of 1:48.30 in the 800 meters. The senior's new school record is nearly three seconds better than the previous mark of 1:51.19 set by Daniel Shelton in 2018.
 
In Lubbock on Friday, Ashton Munoz-Nieves placed 11th in the 60-meter hurdles prelims with a PR mark of 8.07 while Denzel Hinds fell just .16 seconds shy of his PR in the 400 meters, finishing in 48.96. The women's Distance Medley Relay team of Eline Mast, Raylen Russell, Noelle Huijser and Destiny Quintanilla placed fourth with a time of 11:52.75. In field events, Dadrian Calhoun leapt 7.03m/23-0.75 in the long jump, coming in 13th.
 
On Friday at the Yeoman Fieldhouse, Tasheba Pleasant recorded a fourth-place finish in the triple jump with a top jump of 11.96m/39-3.0 and Leandre Lahalle ran 14:58.91 in the men's 5,000 meters.
 
Josh Gillis-Harry and Calhoun each set new indoor PR marks in the triple jump on Saturday on the plains with Gillis-Harry leaping 15.20m/49-10.50 to come in fourth while Calhoun placed sixth with a mark of14.95m/49-0.75.
 
Mast set a new PR in the women's 800, posting a time of 2:10.35 to finish fourth and Kennedy Doakes cleared 1.70m/5-7.0 in the high jump at Tech, tying for seventh.
 
 
The Huskies will next compete on Friday, Feb. 14, at the University of Houston Howie Ryan Invitational at the Yeoman Fieldhouse.
