HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE, Ark. — Houston Christian women's golf concluded the Diamante Intercollegiate with steady individual performances in a deep NCAA Division I field at Diamante Country Club. The Huskies showed resilience and growth as they prepare for the final fall event.
Sara Pihlajamaki led the way for HCU, finishing 39th overall at +4. Pihlajamaki climbed three spots in the final round, demonstrating consistent ball striking and poise on both the front and back nines, helping anchor the team's effort in Arkansas.
Alejandra Ferrer posted a total of +6, moving up 10 positions on the last day to finish tied for 48th. Ferrer recovered from early struggles with a strong 71 in the final round, highlighting her ability to stay focused and finish rounds with composure.
Serena Churchill also tied for 48th at +6 after a solid 73 on the final day. Churchill's consistent approach on the greens and strategic course management contributed key points for the Huskies throughout the tournament.
Hailey Hendershott finished 73rd at +11. Hendershott stayed steady across all three rounds, posting 75 and 76 on the last two days, showing determination and the ability to maintain her pace under challenging conditions.
Alyssa Stewart ended the tournament in 81st place at +13, improving 10 spots in the final round. Stewart's strong 74 highlighted her progress over the weekend and her resilience in bouncing back from early difficulties.
Natcha Makmanee was unable to complete the tournament due to illness, but her early rounds showed promise. The team looks forward to having her back at full strength for the Huskies' next event.
Looking ahead, HCU will head to Waco, Texas, for the Bear Brawl on Oct. 28. The Huskies aim to carry the momentum from Diamante into this final fall tournament, focusing on consistency and growth as they finish the season strong.
