EUGENE, Ore. – On day one of the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, HCU senior
Scott Boon totaled 3,783 points after five events in the decathlon at Hayward Field.
Boon ran in the very first heat of the championships in the 100 meter dash, running a time of 11.41 to earn 771 points. He then leapt 7.11m/23-4.0 in the long jump, the 11
th-best mark out of the 24 competitors, to add 840 points to his total. Boon followed that up with 631 points in the shot put with a top throw of 12.40m/40-8.25.
Boon set a new season-best mark in the high jump, clearing 1.95m/6-4.75 to place fifth and pick up 758 points. He closed out the day with 783 points in the 400 meters, crossing the finish line in 50.69. The senior stands at 3,783 points through five events in 21
st place, less than 200 points outside the top 10.
Boon opens the final five events of the decathlon on Thursday, June 6, at Hayward Field at 1:30 p.m.
