HOUSTON, Texas – Sophomore
Denzel Hinds posted a season-best mark in the 400 meters while
Spencer Blake set a new PR in the shot put to lead HCU track & field at the UH Tom Tellez Invitational on Friday.
Hinds, running the 400m, placed sixth with a time of 49.25 for the best mark among the Huskies' runners this season. Blake, meanwhile, competed in three different throwing events but his 15.85m/52-0.0 throw in the shot put to set a new PR and place fourth and come within four inches of the program record set by Jake Adkins in 2013. Blake also posted marks of 45.60m/149-7 in the discus and 39.81m/130-7 in the hammer throw.
Freshman
SJ Marais set a new PR in the 110 meter hurdles, finishing in 14.70, while fellow first year
Alex Long-Craine ran a 10.93 in the 100 meter dash.
Kemaya Linton placed fourth in the women's 400m, crossing the finish line in 57.24.
The Huskies close out the regular season this coming Thursday through Saturday, May 9-11, across town at Rice's Holloway Field.
