HOUSTON – HCU head women's basketball coach
Donna Finnie has named Owen Adams the program's new Graduate Assistant for the upcoming 2024-25 academic year.
Adam recently completed his undergrad at University of Denver where he worked as a student manager and practice player for the Pioneers women's basketball team.
"Owen is coming from working with a great staff in Denver who spoke extremely highly of him," said Finnie. "He has been involved in a lot of areas of the game that will help his transition to this role here at HCU. I think what stood out for me was his very clear passion for coaching and for people. He values relationships, which is very important to us. He still speaks with his high school coach regularly and he holds the Denver staff in high regards as mentors to him, so he has had very good guidance into this first coaching role. He is a very organized, and focused, person and we are excited to add him to our staff this year."
"We are extremely excited for Owen and this next chapter in his life," said Doshia Woods, University of Denver head women's basketball coach. "He was an incredible addition to our program at the University of Denver. HCU is getting someone that is driven, reliable and determined to succeed. He will embrace this opportunity with the same passion we saw every day.
Congratulations Owen!"
"I am really excited to be able to further my coaching career at HCU," Adams added. "I am really looking forward to learning from a great staff and being able to help as we pursue success in the Southland Conference."
