HOUSTON - Senior
Alex Piquart broke the program record in the mile run on Friday afternoon, highlighting the HCU men's and women's track performances at the Howie Ryan Invitational at Houston's Yeoman Fieldhouse.
Piquart blazed to a time of 4:08.81 for the new record, narrowly outpacing teammate
Krzysztof Turski, who came in second at 4:09.50.
Sophomore
Destiny Quintanilla had a strong showing in the women's 3000 meter run, finishing second with a time of 10:18.95. Elsewhere in the running events, senior
Maria Bangala finished in the top ten with an eighth place finish in the 400 meter run with a time of 57.82. Junior
Denzel Hinds placed ninth in the men's 400 meter, finishing in 49.25. As a team, the HCU men finished third in the 4x400 meter relays with a time of 3:21.53.
In field events, freshman
Scott Boon placed fifth in the men's pole vault at 4.60m/15-1.0. Sophomore
Madelyn Kocik placed 6th in the women's long jump with a top mark of 5.52m/18-1.50.
HCU will enjoy two weeks off before next heading to the Southland Conference Indoor Championships from February 25-26 in Birmingham, Ala.
