WGOLF: Huskies Head to Lubbock for Red Raider Invitational

Texas Tech hosts Red Raider Invitational at The Rawls Course in Lubbock, Texas

LUBBOCK, Texas  – The Huskies return to action at the Red Raider Invitational at The Rawls Course in Lubbock, Texas. The par-72, 6,563-yard golf club, has been home to Texas Tech since opening in 2003 and creates a challenging links-style design alongside a healthy dose of west Texas wind.

HCU is coming off a 10th place finish at the MSU/Payne Stewart Invitational led by a T-17th place finish by senior Elise Parel. Parel fired rounds of 72, 75, and 73 including 13 birdies over the three days. Junior Lou Rousselot posted rounds of 74, 71, and 78 thanks to four birdies, an eagle, and a team leading 37 pars. After struggling in the first round with an 80, sophomore Alejandra Ferrer bounced back nicely with back-to-back rounds of 72 to finish tied for 29th place.

Making her first start of the season, graduate senior Aysis Azarcon is coming off two top-25 finishes in seven starts for the Huskies last year. Freshman Abigail Inocian rounds out the HCU lineup making her first start as a Husky.

The 11-team field includes host Texas Tech, HCU, ACU, Oklahoma City, Princeton, Iowa, UTEP, Campbell, Cincinnati, UIW, and UTRGV. The 54-hole tournament will commence with 36-holes on Monday starting at 8:15 a.m. and conclude with 18-holes on Tuesday, also starting at 8:15 a.m.

The Huskies will play alongside Oklahoma State and UTEP starting on the 10th through 13th holes. Live stats will be available via Golfstat.com.
