MSOC: Pratt announces addition of Wyke for 2023

Versatile Norwegian defender increases recruiting class to 11

HOUSTON --- HCU head men's soccer coach Ryan Pratt has announced the signing of Thomas Wyke to the recruiting class for the 2023 season.

A multipurpose 5'10 defender, Wyke hails from Bærum, Norway. He attended high school at Norges Toppidrettsgymnas Bærum (NTG) and also played club there in his home city for Bærum SK.

Pratt on Wyke:

"Thomas is an outside back whose versatility allows him to play many different positions. He is a very good passer who links defense to the attack very well.

We are really excited about his ability to help us attack as a fullback. He can overlap and give great services in the final third, but also has the ability to help us play out of pressure in the build."

The signing of Wyke brings the total for the recruiting class to 11.

Earlier 2023 signees include:

Ryan Okerayi and Ricardo Garcia  /  Sillah Suwaneh  /  Kidus Assefa and Jordan Santa Cruz

Victor Velasco, Zach Blice and Nana Kofi Obeng  /  Kevin Yamna  /  Preston Manthey

Prior to the regular season slate, the Huskies will take to the pitch in two exhibition matches on August 12 (at SMU) and August 19 (St. Thomas). The season begins in earnest on August 24 when the Huskies host St. Bonaventure at Sorrels Field.

2023 will mark the first campaign for HCU as an affiliate member of the Ohio Valley Conference after 10 years as a part of the WAC.

HCU finished the 2022 season with a 5-8-6 overall mark. The full 2023 schedule, as well as conference slate, will be released later this summer.
