BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Clarenns Sainrimat was named Ohio Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending October 25 as announced by the league office on Tuesday morning. It is the second weekly honor for Sainrimat this season.
The 6'1 junior forward from Marcoussis, France scored three times on the week in helping HCU to a 1-0-1 week. The transfer from Tusculum took three shots, all hitting the back of the net to move into a tie for the team lead in goals (4) and game-winners (2). He has taken 14 shots in 15 matches, with nine coming on target for a .643 shot on goal percentage that leads the club.
His first goal came as the equalizer on Wednesday night down in the valley, as the Huskies drew 2-2 with UTRGV in the completion of the October 1 suspended match.
Sainrimat then put home a pair in a wild 5-2 win over rival University of the Incarnate Word on Sunday night. The first came as the go-ahead tally, a screamer from the left hash just inside the area into the top right corner. The second came just moments later as the Huskies pressed for insurance, as he smashed home a redirection from
Ryan Okerayi for a 4-2 lead. It was the second career brace for Sainrimat, and his first in the blue and orange.
The Frenchman was named Player of the Week previously on September 14 as alongside
Nico Kross and
Harvey Heeps the Huskies swept the awards following a 1-0 win at Grand Canyon.
HCU is 5-6-5 overall on the season and 3-2-3 in the Ohio Valley, sitting in fourth place just one point behind UIW in third. The Huskies are looking to secure a third straight postseason berth, and finish the regular season this week with a pair of matches, beginning with a second meeting of the season with defending OVC champion Lindenwood University on Thursday evening.
