FRISCO, Texas – HCU men's golfers
Ben Caton and
Michael Townsend were both named second team academic all-Southland Conference on Tuesday morning, announced the league office.
Caton, a first team selection last season, earns his second academic honor following a season in which he posted a stroke average of 77.88. He tied for the team's lowest round of the season, shooting a 68 at the HCU Colin Montgomerie Invitational in March. A finance major, he owns a gpa of 3.94.
Townsend, a Montgomery native, is a 4.0 gpa student majoring in management and was the recipient of HCU's Varsity Athletic Academic Award for the 2022-23 school year. Playing six rounds during the season, Townsend posted a stroke average of 77.67. He was a second team academic all-conference selection last season, as well.
