SAN ANTONIO, Tx – The Huskies finish 3
rd at the 2023 Southland Conference Tournament at Hyatt Hill Country Golf Club. HCU fired rounds of 304, 312, and 311, 927 total.
The Huskies were led by senior
Elise Parel who fired back-to-back rounds of five-over par, 77, in the first two rounds, and a one-over par, 73, in the final round. Parel made six birdies in the tournament including a birdie at the par-3, 17
th hole, in the final round on her way to a 5
th place finish.
Sophomore
Lou Rousselot finished in a tie for 7
th place after carding rounds of two-over, 74, six-over par, 78, and seven-over par, 79. Rousselot made four birdies throughout the tournament and finished the season with five consecutive top-10 finishes.
Freshman
Alejandra Ferrer shot rounds of four-over par, 76, six-over par, 78, and six-over par, 78, to finish in a tie for 9
th place. Ferrer made five birdies for the tournament including two in the final round at the 10
th and 16
th holes. Ferrer ended her freshman campaign with three top-10 finishes.
Sophomore
Jackie Nguyen posted rounds of five-over par, 77, seven-over par, 79, and 12-over par, 84, to finish in 20
th place. Nguyen finished her second year as a Husky with six top-20 finishes and a top-5 finish at the 2023 Islander Classic.
Junior
Lucia Allub rounded out the Huskies lineup for the third round, playing as an alternate to freshman
Josalyn Keller, and shot a nine-over par, 81. Allub finished her season with one top-15 at the Bearkat Invitational. Keller finished first season with one top-11 finish at the 2023 UTRGV Invitational.
Augusta claimed the 2023 Southland Conference Championship with rounds of 313, 299, and 298, one-shot ahead of UIW who finished in 2nd place. UIW's Alex Giles claimed the individual title posting rounds of 71, 73, and 75, to claim a three-shot victory over Augusta's Mirabel Ting.
The Huskies finish the championship season with two wins (2023 Islander Classic & 2023 UTRGV Invitational. HCU finished inside the top-10 in all 10 events of the 2022-2023 season, and finished inside the top-5 in nine tournaments.
