Noa Grochowski led a trio of HCU women's track & field athletes on Friday in the pentathlon at the Colorado School of Mines Winter Classic and Multi at Steinhauer Fieldhouse.
Grochowski, a senior, placed fifth overall with a PR total of 3,267 points, improving on her previous best by more than 200 points. She started with 777 points in the 60-meter hurdles thanks to a time of 9.66 before matching her PR in the high jump, clearing 1.65m/5-5.0 for 795 points. She then added 479 points in the shot put with a top throw of 9.23m/30-3.50. Grochowski had the top mark among all competitors in the long jump with a PR leap of 5.90/19-4.25 to pick up 819 points before finishing with an 800 meters time of 2:56.64 for 397 points.
Freshman
Samantha Rabius, competing in her first-ever collegiate pentathlon, placed seventh with 3,078 points. She started with 712 points in the 60h with a time of 10.00 followed by a mark of 1.53m/5-0.25 in the high jump for 655 points. Rabius gained 475 points with a throw of 9.17m/30-1.0 in the shot put, 643 in the long jump with a jump of 5.30m/17-4.75 and finished with a time of 2:38.22 in the 800m for 593 points.
Senior
Grace Perez finished with 2,886 points, opening with back-to-back PRs of 9.93 in the 60h for 725 points and 1.50m/4-11.0 in the high jump for 621 points. She then added 503 points in the shot put with a top heave of 9.59m/31-5.75 before setting a third PR with a long jump of 5.28m/17-4.0 for 637 points. Perez then finished with 400 points from the 800m with a time of 2:56.35.
The Huskies' next meet will be next week on Friday, Feb. 10, when the full team is back across town at Yeoman Fieldhouse for the Howie Ryan Invitational.
