Rebecca Pecora and senior
Jessica Rabius have been named the final Southland Conference Women's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week after their performances last Friday at the Texas Tech Matador Qualifier.
Pecora won the high jump at the Matador Qualifier and set a new program record with a height of 1.76m/5-9.25. That mark is tops in the conference and ranks 10
th in the NCAA South Central Region. The sophomore also competed in the long jump, placing fifth with a top jump of 5.61m/18-5.0.
Rabius picks up her second runner of the week selection after improving on her own school record time in the 800 meters, winning the race with a time of 2:08.17. For ranking purposes, that time is converted to 2:07.81 for altitude and leads the SLC. It also ranks 14
th in the region.
Pecora, Rabius and the Huskies will close out the indoor season at the Southland Conference Indoor Championships this coming Sunday and Monday, Feb. 26-27, in Birmingham, Ala. at the Birmingham Crossplex.
