EUGENE, Ore. – Senior Kaitlin Smith has a long list of accomplishments and honors from her time at HBU but this Friday and Saturday she hopes to add first team all-America to that list when she competes in the final heptathlon of her collegiate career at the 2022 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Hayward Field.

Smith heads into the meet at 16 on the national performance list in the heptathlon this season. She set a new PR and school record at the 2022 Southland Conference Outdoor Championships last month with 5,685 points. It was a dominating performance with Smith earning the gold and beating her nearest competitor by more than 700 points while placing first in each of the seven events.

The senior competed in the 100 meter and 400 meter hurdles at the 2022 West Prelims two weeks ago, setting a new program record in the 400h with a time of 59.26. Smith was named Most Valuable Performer at the SLC Outdoor Championships, earning 37 points for the Huskies' team score.

Smith has earned second team all-America honors in the heptathlon last season and in the pentathlon earlier this season at the NCAA Championships.

The heptathlon begins on Friday, June 10, with the 100h at 3:00 p.m. CT while Saturday, June 11, opens with the long jump at 12:30 p.m. CT. Heptathlon events will be aired on ESPN3.
