Final Heptathlon Results
EUGENE, Ore. – HBU senior
Kaitlin Smith earned the third all-America distinction of her career on Saturday at Hayward Field, placing 11
th in the heptathlon for second team honors at the 2022 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
Smith entered day two in eighth place after four events on Friday. She opened day two with a top mark of 5.58m/18-3.75 for 723 points before adding 541 points in the javelin with a top throw of 33.41m/109-7. Smith then closed out the day with the fourth-best 800 meter time, crossing in 2:16.39, for 873 points.
With a total of 5,617 pints, Smith placed 11
th overall after entering the competition ranked 16
th in the nation in the heptathlon. Her second team all-America accolades are the second of her career in outdoor competition and third overall.
