HOUSTON - HBU returns home after a nine-game road stretch to host UIW in a three-game Southland Conference series Friday through Sunday at Husky Field. All three games will be shown on ESPN+ with Russ Reneau.
 
Junior first baseman Brennen Bales is hitting .310 with nine doubles, a triple, 19 RBIs and 15 runs, while junior catcher Parker Edwards is hitting .273 with six home runs, eight doubles, 21 RBIs and 15 runs for the Huskies (15-27, 8-7 SLC). Senior infielder/outfielder Jake Miller is batting .272 with six doubles, two home runs, 15 RBIs and 18 runs and junior centerfielder Austin Roccaforte is hitting .264 with five doubles, three triples, 17 RBIs, 26 runs and leads the league with 34 walks.
 
HBU is expected to start senior lefthander Austin Spinney (2-3, 5.86 ERA), senior righthander Jared Burch (1-3, 4.30 ERA) and junior righthander Matthew Charles (3-0, 6.37 ERA). Senior closer Andrew Reitmeyer (2-2, 2.55 ERA) is second in the league with eight saves.
 
Roberto Gonzalez is hitting .331 with nine doubles, three home runs, three triples, 23 RBIs and 19 runs and Nixon Brannan is hitting .311 with six doubles, two home runs, 13 RBIS and 13 runs for the Cardinals (16-21, 6-9). Ridge Rogers is batting .293 with eight doubles, three home runs, two triples, 20 RBIs and 23 runs and Grant Smith is batting .292 with 12 doubles, five home runs, 23 RBIs and 30 runs.
 
UIW is likely to start righthander Michael Garza (4-3, 5.02 ERA) and lefthander Kayden Cassidy (0-2, 9.30 ERA), with Sunday's starter to be determined.
 
HBU leads the all-time series against UIW, 37-31, including an 11-8 mark in Southland play since the Cardinals joined the league in 2015. UIW made up ground by sweeping a four-game series last year in San Antonio.
