HOUSTON – UTSA tied the game with two runs in the seventh, then scored two in the eighth and three in the ninth to push past HBU for a 10-5 victory in non-conference baseball Tuesday afternoon at Husky Field.
Junior shortstop
Diego Davila went 4-for-5 with two RBIs and scored twice for HBU (6-12). Junior centerfielder
Austin Roccaforte went 1-for-2, walked three times and scored a run, while junior leftfielder
Connor Fremin walked, was hit by a pitch and scored twice. Junior catcher
Parker Edwards was 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and scored a run.
Senior righthander
Andrew Reitmeyer (1-1) took the loss, allowing two runs on two hits with a strikeout and a walk in 1.1 innings. Junior
Chad Ricker threw four innings of relief, allowing two runs on six hits with a walk.
Ryan Flores went 2-for-2 with a home run, four walks, two RBIs and three runs for the Roadrunners (11-5). Ian Bailey was 2-for-5 with a triple, two RBIs and two runs and Garrett Poston went 2-for-4 with three RBIs. Jonathan Tapia singled, drove in a run and scored twice.
Daniel Garza (1-0) earned the win, shutting the Huskies out on two hits with four strikeout and no walks over the final three innings.
Flores' two-run homer put UTSA ahead 3-1 in the third.
HBU rallied for four runs in the fifth, including Edwards giving the Huskies the lead with an RBI single and senior rightfielder
Lane Botkin getting hit by a pitch with the bases load for a 5-3 lead.
UTSA took advantage of five walks in the seventh, scoring on a sacrifice fly and a bases loaded free pass to tie it, 5-5. Poston then delivered a two-run, go-ahead single in the eighth and Bailey added a two-run triple in the ninth.
HBU returns to action when it travels to face Michigan State in a three-game series Friday through Sunday in East Lansing.
