BSB: Huskies Down Hofstra, 6-3, to Win Series

Logan Letney goes 2-for-3 with a home run

SUGAR LAND, Texas – Hofstra tied the game in the top of the seventh, but HBU junior centerfielder Austin Roccaforte delivered a two-run triple in the bottom half to send the Huskies to a 6-3, series-clinching victory Sunday afternoon at Constellation Field.
 
Junior leftfielder Connor Fremin went 1-for-3 and drove in a pair for HBU (2-6), while junior rightfielder Logan Letney went 2-for-3 with a home run. Junior second baseman Diego Davila doubled and scored twice.
 
Junior lefthander Tim Ewald (1-0) picked up the win, striking out two and walking one in two-thirds of an inning. Senior righthander Andrew Reitmeyer nailed down his first save of the year with a 1-2-3 ninth, striking out one. Senior starter Jared Burch gave up two runs on five hits and struck out seven with a walk in six innings.
 
Ryan Morash went 2-for-5 with a double and scored a run for the Pride (1-2), while Jake Liberatore went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles.
 
Tristan Nemjo (0-1) took the loss, allowing three runs on one hit and struck out two and walked one in 1.1 innings. Starter Brad Camarda gave up three runs on five hits with three strikeouts and a walk in 5.1 innings.
 
Letney led off the second with a solo home run to rightcenter, his first of the year, then Davila doubled and scored on Fremin's RBI single to right in the third for a 2-0 lead.
 
Morash doubled and scored in the fourth, then Sean Flaherty scored on Anthony D'Onofrio's RBI groundout to tie it in the fifth.
 
HBU answered in the bottom half as junior catcher Tyler LaRue doubled and scored on Fremin's groundout.
 
Michael Florides singled and scored on an error after a single by Morash to knot the score again at 3-3 in the top of the seventh.
 
Davila and Fremin each drew walks, before Roccaforte ripped a triple into the leftcenter field gap. Roccaforte came home on a sacrifice fly by senior shortstop Jake Miller for an insurance run.
 
The Huskies hit the road for six-straight, beginning with Tuesday night's matchup against Texas A&M at 6:30 in College Station.
