BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The HCU men's and women's cross country teams ran their final race before the Southland Conference Championships in a crowded field at the Texas A&M Arturo Barrios Invitational on Saturday morning. Houston Christian University (HCU), formerly Houston Baptist University (HBU), underwent a name change in September 2022.
In the women's 6K race that featured 38 teams and 326 individual finishers, the Huskies placed 22
nd. Senior
Jessica Rabius was the team's top finisher, placing 63
rd with a time of 22:02.3. Sophomore
Arlette Concepcion came in less than 20 seconds behind Rabius, crossing in 22:21.9 to place 88
th and set a new PR. Next was freshman
Destiny Quintanilla, finishing in 22:58.5 and placing 137
th.
Eline Mast crossed in 23:41.7 followed by
Ellisyn Davis in 24:49.0.
The men ran an 8K, placing 30
th out of a field of 40 teams and 360 individual finishers.
Justice Artisst, a senior, paced the Huskies with a time of 25:29.0 to finish 117
th.
Isaiah Price, also a senior, set a new PR with a time of 25:44.1 with
Nate Allen coming in next for HCU, crossing in 26:24.8.
Travis Jacobs also posted a PR time, finishing in 26:45.3, followed by
Krzysztof Turski in 27:09.8.
The Huskies will run at the Southland Conference Championships on Friday, Oct. 28, in Thibodaux, La.
