HOUSTON – HBU women's soccer is set to host the second-place McNeese Cowgirls at Sorrels Field this Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. in a Southland Conference matchup.

The Huskies (1-6-2, 1-1-1 SLC) are fresh off their first win of the season, a 7-0 thrashing of Nicholls, while McNeese (6-3-1, 3-1-0 SLC) enter the match in second place in the league with nine points but own just a 1-2-1 record on the road this season.

HBU, currently tied for third in the SLC standings with four points, put on an offensive show this past Sunday against Nicholls with 37 shots attempted, the second-highest output in program history. Senior Noor Abukishk leads the Huskies with three goals and seven points with sophomore Katie Marker's six points right behind her. In goal, Karla Ramirez's 50 total saves ranks 26th in the nation.

McNeese played a pair of SLC games in Texas last weekend, falling at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 0-1, before picking up the team's first road win of the season at UIW, 2-1. Senior Havana Johnson and Anna Watson are tied for the team-lead with four goals with each credited with one assist. As a team, the Cowgirls rank in the top-20 in the country in both shot accuracy, with 58.9 percent of their attempts on goal, and save percentage, with two keepers combining to stop more than 89 percent of shots on goal.

The Cowgirls have won the last two meetings, including a 3-1 win over the Huskies in Lake Charles, La. last season. All-time, HBU owns a 6-5-2 record against McNeese with a 4-2 mark at home.

The Huskies return to the road next week with a visit to Natchitoches, La. to face Northwestern State on Oct. 1 before coming back to host UIW at Sorrels Field on Oct. 3.
