EUGENE, Ore. – Senior
Denim Rogers earned the second outdoor All-America designation of his career with a second team performance in the decathlon at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Thursday, placing 15
th out of a field of 24 at Oregon's Hayward Field.
Rogers opened day two of the decathlon with 879 points from the 110 meter hurdles, finishing the race in 14.76. The senior then added 610 points in the discus with a throw of 37.32m/122-5 and cleared a height of 4.41m/14-5.50 in the pole vault for another 734 points. He followed that up with a PR performance in the javelin with a top mark of 52.00m/170-7 for 618 points and finished the final event, the 1500 meters, in 4:59.12 for 565 points.
After finishing day one with 3,827 points in 16
th place, Rogers moved up to 15
th by the end of the 10 events with a total of 7,233.
Rogers is now a three-time All-American, the most decorated student-athlete in the program's history, after earning first team All-America status in 2019 and most recently earning indoor first team honors in the heptathlon at the 2021 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships.
Teammate
Scott Boon was also an entrant but withdrew after four events on Wednesday.
