Kaitlin Smith ran a career-best in the 800 meters while sophomore
Victoria Herpin set two new personal best marks in the discus and shot put on Friday at the Tom Tellez Invitational hosted by the University of Houston.
Smith, two-time SLC Athlete of the Week this outdoor season, improved upon her previous PR in the 800 meters with a time of 2:17.54 to place fourth in the event. The senior also placed third in the 100 meter hurdles with a wind-aided time of 13.60.
Herpin, meanwhile, set a new PR in the shot put with a top throw of 13.92m/45-8.0 to take third place with her mark of 41.19m/135-1.0 in the discus also a new personal record.
All-American
Denim Rogers ran a wind-aided time of 14.17 in the 110 meter hurdles, finishing sixth, and also cleared a height of 1.95m/6-4.75 in the high jump. In the men's pole vault,
Hudson Hall posted a top mark of 5.09m/16.8.25 to place third.
Next up for the Huskies will be the 2021 Southland Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Turner Stadium in Humble, Texas from May 14-16.
