AUSTIN, Texas – A trio of HBU competitors set new school records in the heptathlon, pole vault and 110 meter hurdles on day two of the 93
rd Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays on Friday at the Mike A. Myers Stadium.
Senior
Hudson Hall broke his own program record in the pole vault, clearing 5.10m/16-8.75 on his second attempt to place sixth in his section. In the 110 meter hurdles,
Denim Rogers took more than two tenths of a second off his own PR and broke Christian Guzman's six year old program record with a time of 14.05 to win his heat and post the 11
th-best time of the day.
Kaitlin Smith, finishing the final three events in the heptathlon, opened the day with 756 points in the long jump with a top mark of 5.69/18-8 before adding 501 points in the javelin thanks to a top throw of 31.28m/102-7. She then closed out the day with a PR time of 2:19.76 in the 800 meters for a new school-record mark of 5,291, placing seventh overall and sixth among collegians.
In the long jump, freshman
Isaiah Cash placed seventh in his section with a top leap of 7.19m/23-7.25 while
Christopher Welch reached a distance of 7.04m/23-1.25.
The Huskies will be back on the track tomorrow, Mar. 27, with a full squad competing at the Rice Victor Lopez Classic held at the Wendel D. Ley Track.
