Christopher Welch became a two-time indoor All-American on Saturday afternoon at the 2021 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, earning Second Team honors with a 12
th place finish in the triple jump.
Welch achieved his top mark, 15.90m/52-2.0, on his first attempt of the day. Through the first round of attempts by all competitors, Welch stood in fourth. On his second and third attempts, however, he fouled on each. That mark was good for 12
th overall.
Welch's All-American status is his second after he was named All-American last season, qualifying for the NCAA Indoor Championships but not getting to take part after it was canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
