FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Senior
Denim Rogers totaled 3,097 points through four events and stands in 13
th place in the heptathlon at the 2021 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships at the Randal Tyson Track Center on Thursday.
Rogers opened the day with 893 points in the 60 meter dash thanks to a time of 6.97 which placed him fourth in the event. He then leapt 6.86m/22-6.25 in the long jump for 781 additional points before adding 620 to his total in the shot put thanks to a top mark of 12.22m/40-1.25. He then closed the day with the fourth-best mark in the high jump, clearing 2.00m/6-6.75 for 803 points.
With a total of 3,097 Rogers is currently just 19 points out of being in the top-10.
Day two of the heptathlon and Rogers' final day of competing at the Indoor Championships will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, Mar. 12. Teammate
Christopher Welch will be competing in the triple jump on Saturday, Mar. 13.
