LUBBOCK, Texas – No. 10 Texas Tech scored two runs in the seventh and two more in the eighth to pull away for an 8-1 victory over HBU in non-conference baseball Saturday afternoon at Rip Griffin Park.
Senior leftfielder
Lane Botkin went 2-for-3 with a double, two stolen bases and scored a run for the Huskies (1-4) and freshman shortstop
Sebastian Trinidad went 1-for-3 with an RBI.
Senior righthander
Jacob Coats (0-1) took the loss, giving up three runs on five hits with two strikeouts and four walks in five innings.
Cal Conley went 3-for-5 with a double, an RBI and a run, while Cody Masters went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBIs and two runs. Nate Rombach went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and scored and Dru Baker was 2-for-5 with a run.
Patrick Monteverde shut the Huskies out on two hits with nine strikeouts in seven innings.
The series concludes with a 1 p.m. first pitch Sunday.
