COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Through four events of the heptathlon at the Colorado Running Company UCCS Open hosted by the University of Colorado Colorado Springs on Friday, senior
Denim Rogers holds an 85-point lead and finished first in three of the events.
Rogers opened the day by winning the 60 meter dash with a time of 6.99 to pick up 886 points. He then followed that up with a top leap of 6.87m/22-6.50 in the long jump for 783 additional points and another event win. Rogers then placed fourth in the shot put with a top mark of 11.83m/38-9.75 for 596 points and then closed the day by tying for first and clearing 2.01m/6-7.0 for 813 points. He finished with 3,078 points.
Day two begins at 11:00 a.m. CT with the 60 meter hurdles as the first of the final three events. Junior
Christopher Welch will also be competing in the triple jump, which begins at noon CT.
