HOUSTON – The Huskies will host a pair of midweek games against Texas Wesleyan at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday and Hartford at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Through two games,
Julija Vujakovic and
Kennedy Wilson lead the Huskies (1-1, 0-0 SLC) in scoring, each with 13ppg. Wilson is perfect from deep and at the free-throw line on the season, shooting .714 from the field. Vujakovic shoots .333 percent from the three-point line and .458 percent from the field.
The Huskies are coming off of their home opening win against St. Thomas (TX) which saw three different Huskies,
N'Denasija Collins, Wilson, and Vujakovic, score in double figures.
Amy Cotton,
Lauryn Mapusua and Vujakovic led the Huskies in steals in that win, each with four. Cotton had the biggest game defensively as she added eight boards and three blocks in her 19 minutes of work. Wilson led the way with five steals.
Timia Jefferson is the other Husky averaging double figures this season, with 10 ppg.
Abbey Sutherland leads the Huskies in rebounding with five per contest.
This will be the first time the Huskies have faced Texas Wesleyan (3-0, 0-0 SAC). Through three games, the Rams have four players averaging double figures in scoring per game, led by Zarria Carter who averages 16.7 ppg. The Rams can shoot the lights out of the ball, with six players shooting over 50 percent from the floor and a team shooting percentage of .495. Cater also leads the Rams in rebounding averaging 8.7 per game. Evie Whorley leads the team in assists, averaging four per game. They are coming off of two wins last week against LSU-Shreveport and Huston-Tillotson.
This will also be the first time the Huskies have battled with Hartford (0-2, 0-0 AEC). Through two games, Jada Lucas leads the team in scoring, averaging 10.5 ppg. Sierra Smith and Carmen Villalobos lead the Hawks in rebounds, both grabbing 6.5 per game. The Hawks are coming off of season opening losses to Sacred Heart and Penn.
The Huskies will travel the Albuquerque to face New Mexico next Tuesday.
