WBB: Donna Finnie Announces Signing of Emelie Ezukanma

Forward Joins Huskies From Fort Worth

HOUSTON – The HBU women's basketball team has signed Emelie Ezukanma a 6'3" forward from Fort Worth, Texas, to a National Letter of Intent, head coach Donna Finnie announced Friday.

"Emelie is one of those players you get really excited about," Finnie said. "Her ceiling is so high and she is already showing flashes of how she could impact games both ends of the floor at the collegiate level."

Ezukanma plays high school ball for head coach Tina DiMichele at Keller Timber Creek High School in Fort Worth. She has been a three year starter and has been awarded the Newcomer of the Year Award by her district.

"I'm so proud of Emelie and what she has accomplished at Timber Creek and I can't wait to see her growth at the next level," DiMichele said.

Finnie added, "Her length and mobility defensively will help her immediately be able to contribute on the defensive end of the floor. At 6'3 and being able to shoot the three so well, she will really slot into our motion offense comfortably and going up against our returning bigs will be good for her back to the basket development."

Ezukanma will be joining the Huskies at an exciting time, as they were just voted second in the Southland Conference preseason rankings by opposing coaches and SID's.

We are really excited to have Emelie join our family. She's a very ambitious young lady who our team loved on her visit and will fit perfectly into our program," Finnie concluded.

She will be joining the Huskies in 2022-23 and has not yet decided on her major.
